Costruito dai Domenicani per custodire in un reliquiario una spina della passione di Cristo, la costruzione è il primo esempio di chiesa gotica nel Veneto (1266). Di linee gotiche e di quelle rinascimentali. Da ammirare, all’interno, il Battesimo di Gesù di Giovanni Bellini; l’Adorazione dei Magi di Paolo Veronese e tele di Giambattista Pittoni, Alessandro Maganza, Leandro Bassano, Francesco Maffei, Bartolomeo Montagna. L’altare nell’abside, opera dei Corbelli, è riccamente intarsiato con 52 marmi diversi. La cappella Valmarana è opera di Andrea Palladio.


The Holy Crown Temple
Built by the Domenican monks to house the precious relic, this construction is the first example of a gothic church in the Veneto (1266). The actual physiognomy is the result of the fusion between the mysticism of the gothic lines and those of the renaissance. Inside the temple, one can admire the Baptism of Jesus, by G. Bellini, the Adoration, by P. Veronese, and canvases by G. Pittoni, A. Maganza, L. Bassano, F. Maffei, B. Montagna. The altar in the apsis is the work of Corbelli, and is richly inlaid with 52 different types of marble. The Valmarana Chapel is by Palladio.
