MONUMENTI E PALAZZI

• Palazzo Agostinelli. Degna di ammirazione la nicchia sulla facciata con l’affresco della Madonna con bambino della seconda metà del ‘400.


• Palazzo Bonaguro. Risale al ‘500 e vanta il pian terreno completamente affrescato.


• Palazzo Pretorio. Della seconda metà del ‘200 è stato la residenza del Podestà. Attualmente ospita gli uffici della Pretura.

MONUMENTS AND PALACES
Agostinelli Palace. The fresco in the niche on the façade of this building, which depicts the Virgin Mary with the Christ-Child, dates from the second half of the 15th century and is worthy of admiration.
Bonaguro Palace. This building dates from the 16th century. The ground floor is completely frescoed.
Pretorio Palace. Pretorio Palace dates from the second half of the 13th century and was the residence of the Podestà. Today the building houses the offices of the magistrate's court.


Itinerario alla scoperta di BASSANO
Iniziando da Viale dei Martiri, testimonianza delle vittime di guerra, si costeggia il fiume che scorre sotto Ponte Vecchio, maestosa costruzione. Il ponte di legno sul fiume Brenta è il simbolo della città. Fu ricostruito più volte, sempre rispettando l’originario progetto palladiano del 1569. Poco più avanti si giunge ad una piazzetta dal sapore sacrale: un giardino con la statua di S. Antonio, amico di S. Francesco. Secondo la tradizione i due si sono incontrati proprio in questo luogo. La chiesetta conserva la cella del Santo.
Raggiungiamo ora il Ponte Nuovo che volge con reverenziale distacco al Vecchio: entrambi guardano agli stessi monti ma l’architettura più recente apre i suoi orizzonti alla foce, determinata verso il futuro. Da Ponte Nuovo si può scorgere il Tempio Ossario, maestosa chiesa dove si trovano le spoglie di oltre 5400 caduti della Grande Guerra.
Ci addentriamo ulteriormente: due piazze, una banca, una fontana, un grande orologio con i dodici segni zodiacali e la singolare loggia del Comune. Si sale ancora lungo via Matteotti, una delle vie centrali, per arrivare ad una porta imponente dalla quale ci si immette nella piazzetta del Duomo che conserva tracce delle antiche mura di recinzione della città.

ITINERARY OF BASSANO
Beginning from Viale dei Martiri, which is a testimony of the Second World War, which saw many victims in the area, the route goes along the river, which passes under the Old Bridge, a majestic construction which is a reminder for every generation and a hymn to peace. The wooden bridge over the River Brenta is the symbol of Bassano. It has been rebuilt various times. Each new construction has always respected the original Palladian project of 1569. A little further on, there is a small square that has something of a sacred air about it: a garden with the statue of St. Anthony, who was a friend of St. Francis. According to tradition, the two met in this place. The small chapel conserves the cell of the Saint. We now come to the New Bridge, which lies at a reverential distance from the Old Bridge: both of them grant a fine view of the same mountains, but the more recent architecture opens its horizons towards the mouth of the river, looking determinedly towards the future. From the New Bridge, you can see the Sacred Burial Temple, a majestic Church where the remains of more than 5,400 persons who lost their lives in the First World War. We now enter: the two squares, a bank, a fountain, a great clock that bears the twelve signs of the zodiac and the extremely original loggia of the Town Hall. We now go up via Matteotti, one of the central streets of Bassano, until we arrive at an imposing arch. By going through this archway we gain access into the square of the Duomo, which conserves traces of the ancient walls, which surrounded the city.
